William D. Johnson is a former librarian, turned graphic artist and illustrator, who currently makes his living as a freelance community development consultant. Johnson has illustrated and designed, and occasionally edited, over 60 books for twelve separate independent Canadian book publishers, including illustrating the national award-winning children's book: Monster Cheese by Steve Wolfson, published by Coteau Books.
Johnson has worked with numerous advertising agencies and the National Film Board of Canada, both as an illustrator and a copy writer. He has lectured on communications at a University and been a community development consultant, proposal writer and fundraiser since the 80s. Johnson has also renovated three heritage houses and designed, built, and marketed one-of-a-kind folk art furniture.
