Although her Yankee-doctor husband whisked her away to the hinterlands of Minnesota years ago, Christa Worrell’s roots are deeply Southern: Spanish moss, shrimp & grits, three glubs of Tabasco sauce. A graduate of Tulane University Engineering (her mama made her do it) and Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine, Christa is now a mom who juggles fiction writing and ultrasound exams at her vet clinic. As a worshiper of books, she bows before the altars of Truman Capote, Rebecca Wells, and Donna Tartt.
For Christa, life’s simple pleasures include coffee served in bed, Mexican lunch with girlfriends, and the company of her furry assistants—a sock-eating Labradoodle and two mouthy cats. But the holy grail of her existence involves stumbling upon a perfect fairy ring of morel mushrooms dancing around a dying elm. Only then will she crack open the Chateau Margaux.
